Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Publish Initial Data From Acute Hospital Care at Home Waiver Initiative

By Medically Home Newsroom

Recently, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) published an initial review of data from the Acute Hospital Care at Home Waiver Initiative, a measure that was introduced during the pandemic to help manage capacity constraints that were limiting patient access to care in hospitals around the country. This initial research is one of the largest analyses of hospital-at-home patients in the literature with 11,159 patients.

One of the noteworthy findings from the study was the following: “Patients who received care under AHCAH had a low mortality rate consistent with the hospital-at-home literature and minimal complications related to escalations back to the brick-and-mortar hospital.”
